The site is built so that your answers and your results never leave your device.
What happens to your answers
- All calculations run in your browser. Your answers and your result are never sent to any server, ours or anyone else's.
- An unfinished check, including anything you write in your own words, is kept in your browser's storage (localStorage) so you can finish later. Once the result is shown, the individual answers are removed from storage. What stays is a short history (date, score, the five area numbers and your importance rating, at most the last 12), so you can see what changed next time.
- If you press Remember it for next time on your focus card, the step you chose, your if-then plan and how sure you were are added to that history, so a later check can ask how it went. Your answer to that question is added too.
- The PRO plan is written only when you click to get or open it, or paste a key. It is kept here (at most the six most recent plans), so it can open when the key arrives. It quotes your own words and reasons, the step you chose, the statements you marked as leaks, and any care note your answers led to. A KeyTill key, if you add one, is kept here too.
- The Delete my data from this device button on the result, and the one below, removes everything, including saved PRO plans and your KeyTill key. Clearing site data in your browser does the same.
Free result and PRO plan
Every check gives a free result, including your focus card. The PRO plan is written in your browser only when you ask for it, and kept on this device. It opens with a KeyTill licence key, level 1 (Starter) or higher.
- You buy the key on keytill.com, not here. When you go there from this site, no answers, scores or anything else about you goes with you; the link only tells KeyTill that you came from Distraction Meter, so the community price applies, and where to send you back.
- You get the key on screen and by email. You paste it here, or come back with KeyTill's button. Your browser checks the key's digital signature against KeyTill's public key, on this device. The key is never sent to us or to KeyTill.
- The key contains the email address you bought it with, its level and its expiry date. It is stored in this browser so the next measurement opens its PRO plan too. When it expires, saved plans lock again; print or save them as PDF while it is valid.
Who does what, and the licence behind it
- A separate company, which runs KeyTill, holds the rights to the meter software, including its PRO plan. Lebwerte uses the software under a licence that covers the free result, which it provides free. Whoever wants the PRO plan buys a licence key for the software at KeyTill: a licence fee for 12 months, paid once. The company is responsible for its software, the keys and the payment. Who sells the key, the terms, tax and refunds are shown on keytill.com before you pay; you give your email and payment details there, not here.
- Lebwerte, a non-profit association, runs Distraction Meter and writes the content. It is responsible for that content and receives no payment from KeyTill.
What the site loads
- Fonts, styles and scripts are hosted on distractionmeter.com. The site makes no connection to Google Fonts or any other third party.
- The site sets no cookies. That's why there's no cookie banner.
- Visitor analytics: none at present. If we switch it on, it will be a cookie-free tool that doesn't identify individuals, it will count only progress through the steps, never your answers, and this paragraph will change first.
Server logs
Like every server, the hosting keeps short-lived technical records of requests (IP address, time, page) for security and to keep the site running. They contain no answers or results.

Because we hold no answers or results, there is nothing about your measurement for us to show, correct or delete; it is all on your device and under your control.
